Feeling a Bit Loopy Part I: Keeping You in the Loop

We-Heart-Houston_web.jpg

Living inside the Loop is the Houston equivalent of living in Manhattan. Just North of the River in Austin. Being in Paris versus being in the suburban city of Bondy.

The benchmark that draws the line between living in the Houston area and living in Houston. The proud answer to the question “what part of Houston?”

This coveted circle, also known as Loop 610, is more than a place where the action happens. It’s also where a growing majority of Houston residents want to live.

As real estate agents and homebuyers know, the more popular an area, the more competitive it is to find a home—and prices will always follow the demand. This demand has made Houston one of the nation’s hot spots for residential real estate.

Within the 610 Loop, you’ll find culture, greenbelts, recreation, fine dining, retail and a diverse professional business landscape. There’s another huge selling point, too: Compared to the rest of the city, living inside the Loop also means a much shorter commute to work.

Save Time and Sanity
Typically, those who flock to the suburbs looking for bigger, newer houses they can afford wind up spending a large portion of each day in their cars.

Though Houston is a polycentric paradise, the bulk of professional jobs in the city are not in the furthest regions. Downtown, The Galleria, Texas Medical Center … even the formerly suburban Energy Corridor is now a fair distance down a clogged freeway from those in the outer areas.

The average commute time for Houstonians, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, is 28.1 minutes. You could watch an episode of Workaholics during the morning commute (if you don’t mind rear-ending the car in front of you) and have six minutes to spare.

Around 20 percent of Houstonians have a commute of 14 minutes or less. Making them the elite. And probably living inside the Loop.

It’s not just work, either. Traveling to school, the mall, or even the supermarket can be an ordeal in and of itself. Within the 610 Loop, though, lies a host of work-live-play opportunities.
