Kick Back and Relax: Bars and Lounges Within a 10-minute Walk of Parc at Midtown

If there’s a cure for the daily grind, it’s unwinding at your favorite bar or lounge. The magic of a perfectly made cocktail, the scent of a well-aged wine or an upbeat atmosphere can do wonders for reducing stress. For residents of Parc at Midtown, there’s an added bonus: visiting popular watering holes is just an easy-breezy 10-minute walk away from door-to-door. Leave your car in the garage and forget worries of parking or driving home after having a drink—your fun is just moments away by foot. Midtown’s popularity has surged in recent years, and new bars and lounges have added to its rising status. Hanging out on the patio, people watching (there are plenty of gorgeous faces here) and enjoying the weather can make for a perfect afternoon or evening. Here are just a few of the places where you can chill out with some of the most stylish people in the city.

The Vibe: Casual and Cool
Capitol Bar Midtown is a premiere open-air patio bar, perfect for enjoying great weather, music and atmosphere. Inside, HDTVs broadcast the must-see games (sports lovers may not want to ever leave) and there are plenty of outdoor umbrella-capped tables and cabanas to keep you covered. Capitol Bar Midtown also has live music performances and games. Bring your appetite, because here you’ll find an array of on-site food trucks that deliver a range of bites and desserts

Get there: Capitol Bar is at 2415 Main St. Dress: Casual. Open: Sunday 1 p.m. until midnight, and Thursday/Friday/Saturday from 5 p.m. until 2 a.m.

Mongoose-Versus-Cobra.jpgMongoose Versus Cobra (8-minute walk)

The Vibe: Historically Hip
If there was an award for the most intriguing bar name, Mongoose Versus Cobra would win.
Named for the sculpture displayed in the bar, the physical space of this establishment has been transformed too many times to count. It was originally built in 1915 as a grocery store, but over the years it’s also been home to an auto repair company and a stationary shop.

Mongoose Versus Cobra features a robust menu of beers, spirits and innovative cocktails, as well as groceries that range from nuts and cured meats to fruits and cheeses. For the literary minded, the bar also features a reading series every second Monday of the month. In short, Mongoose Versus Cobra is as distinctive as its clientele.

Get there: 1011 McGowen St. Dress: Casual. Open Monday-Friday from 4 p.m. until 2 a.m. and Saturday-Sunday 2 p.m. until 2 a.m.

13-Celsius-blog-edit.jpg13 Celsius (9-minute walk)

The Vibe: Elegant and Elite
A new level of lounge sophistication has emerged with 13 Celsius, a European-style wine bar. Billed as an “enoteca” (the Italian word for wine repository), this Midtown hotspot features global wines served by the glass or bottle, as well as 30 beer varieties. Complement your cocktails with cheeses, charcuteries (cold meats) and handmade truffles. Bring a date, friend, or client—13 Celsius promises a chic crowd and the inspiration for intriguing conversation.

Get there: 3000 Caroline. Dress: Impress. Open: Every day from 4 p.m. until 2 a.m.
