PRESS RELEASE

HOUSTON – May 2, 2016 – The Parc at Midtown community by Surge Homes recently was upgraded to a “very walkable” Walk Score of 80 from 76, which bodes well for those looking to put down roots in a Houston neighborhood known for its walkability.

Located at 2401 Crawford St., Parc at Midtown is in the heart of one of the most walkable neighborhoods in all of Houston, according to Walk Score. Midtown, which is between downtown and the medical center offers mixed-use developments allowing residents the ability to rely on walking as their primary method of transportation. In addition, a recent article by Redfin, a national real estate brokerage, named Midtown one of “The 10 Most Walkable Neighborhoods in Texas.”

Amenities near Parc at Midtown include restaurants, lounges, parks and the arts, and commuting to work is a breeze for those going to downtown, the Museum District or the medical center with a METRORail station a few blocks away. “Midtown is the epicenter of Houston’s most exciting lifestyle for the young and young-at-heart,” said Ben Lemieux, co-owner of Surge Homes. “Our Parc at Midtown community offers brand new condos, Sky Townhomes™ and townhomes with refined European interior finishes that are on par with the lifestyle comforts Houstonians desire. Although the neighborhood is number one for walkability and in very high-demand, our innovative products allow us to offer home ownership from the $150s.”

Upper Richton, another Surge Homes community, earns a very respectable 87 Walk Score and is deemed “very walkable” also. Located in the Upper Kirby District, this exclusive new community of townhomes and single-family homes caters to fine living and the sophisticated lifestyle area residents have come to expect. Louis Conrad, Surge Homes co-owner, said, “Upper Richton offers classic architecture, luxury interiors, and proximity to upscale shopping, entertainment and award-winning cuisine.” Amenities within walking distance include restaurants such as Mia’s Table, Sonoma Wine Bar and Kata Robata, and shopping at West Ave.

Walk Score®, a Redfin company, analyzes hundreds of walking routes to nearby amenities to determine the Walk Score of a specific address or neighborhood. The methodology calculates a number between zero and 100 by assigning points based on the distance to a particular amenity in each category and measuring pedestrian friendliness.

In the 2016 Kinder Houston Area Survey commissioned by the Kinder Institute for Urban Research, 50 percent of respondents living in Harris County indicated they would prefer “a smaller home in a more urbanized area within walking distance of shops and workplaces.” Surge Homes offers Houstonians many walkable communities in the Inner Loop.
