Local Builder Supports Houston's Homeless Youth

Press Release

HOUSTON - (May 3, 2017) - Surge Homes®, a Houston-based developer and builder, will sponsor the inaugural Cause We Can Dance Saturdays beginning at 8 p.m. May 6 at 1919 Wine & Mixology, 2736 Virginia St. in Houston. The benefit will raise funds for Covenant House Texas, a nonprofit dedicated to helping homeless youth in Houston.

“Surge Homes builds communities, not just homes,” said Louis Conrad, co-owner of Surge Homes. “To be a true community builder, we believe we should care not only about our valued clientele but also those less privileged Houstonians who don’t have a place to call home.”

Cause We Can Dance raises funds for Houstonians in need through dance, music and other fun, exciting events. The initial event will feature DJs Housto and DJ Farr. Throughout the evening, Housto will introduce The Art of the Third Song, a live musical performance happening during and between two songs, where he blends an energetic performance of improvisational sampling, a cappella, percussion and decades of hit songs into a single harmony.

The $10 cover charge for the inaugural event goes directly to Covenant House Texas in support of their efforts to shelter and change the lives of Houston’s homeless youth.

“Sponsoring the initial Cause We Can Dance event will not be a one-time effort for Surge Homes,” said company co-owner Ben Lemieux. “This will kick off a series of different activities to benefit Covenant House Texas.

“We truly believe helping those in need find a safe, secure and productive life creates a better environment for all of Houston, and specifically Inner Loop residents since the charity is located in Montrose. When we are generous towards young homeless people, we all win.”

Cause We Can Dance Saturdays will continue weekly after the inaugural benefit, filling 1919 Wine & Mixology each Saturday with those looking to have fun and give back to our city. The continuing events will benefit Covenant House Texas directly through a donation of 10 percent of bar proceeds.

There are many ways to help the cause. You can buy a ticket to attend the kick-off event or simply donate if you’re unable to attend. Another way to make a difference is to “click for a cause” by sharing the event on Facebook with friends who might also be interested in supporting our efforts.
