Along with Uchi, Kata Robata is at the top of Houston’s best sushi restaurants and residents of Upper Richton are some of the few privileged enough to be able to walk here. Indulgences include slow-cooked Kobe beef skewers, miso lobster macaroni and cheese, spicy chopped scallop, kanpachi with fois gras, aka mutsu, grilled Portuguese octopus, sugar cane wagyu meatballs, black cod, and blueberry cake with earl gray ice cream, as well as a wide array of sushi and sashimi. Grace’s on Kirby (6-minute walk) is a study in comfort food perfection. Grace’s is a cozy, inviting place where you’ll find everything from burgers and fried chicken to prime rib and lamb chops. The brunch menu includes biscuit pot pie, strawberry pancakes, and (of course) waffles and wings. Come hungry and you’ll leave happy.

The Dish: BBQ, Burgers and Tex Mex

Mia’s (5-minute walk) is your family-friendly, go-to place for burgers, tacos, chicken fried steak, ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, salads and much more. Grab a great spot on the oversized terrace and take your time selecting your favorites from the made-to-order menu, which covers a lot of ground. Mia’s is casual and welcoming, and perfect for good times and great food. Order at the counter, and lunch or dinner will be served.

If green is your thing, then visit Ruggles Green (7-minute walk). This fast-casual restaurant sources from local farmers and organic vendors to offer vegetarian fare, gluten-free dishes, natural meat and poultry dishes, and other healthy foods. Not only is this establishment the first Certified Green Restaurant™ (meaning the place is sustainably run) but the entire menu is wellness-focused. Here, you’ll find veggie burgers, lean buffalo burgers, spicy shrimp tacos and much more. Ruggles Green also features a robust kid’s menu that includes quinoa mac and cheese, grilled cheese panini and all-natural chicken tenders.

Flemings Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar (6-minute walk) is an upscale, award-winning establishment known for perfect cuts and 100 wine varieties by the glass. Select from steak classics such as filet mignon, dry-aged prime ribeye and wagyu New York strip; top it with lobster, shrimp or crabmeat and you’ve got a meal fit for a king or queen. Be sure to reserve your table.

From Alaskan halibut to Moroccan salmon, if you’re in the mood for seafood, head over to Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen (9-minute walk). This restaurant has long been a favorite, and with appetizers like Gulf Coast oysters and fried alligator, you can see why. The menu includes fried seafood; steak, lobster and crab; chef selections like Chilean sea bass and ahi tuna; and specialties like crawfish etouffee and shrimp creole and grits. Good luck narrowing down the delicious choices.
